How WorkedIN was born
A founder returned to India after 18 years abroad and found the biggest blocker to growth: dependable labor.
After spending over 18 years in the United States, the founder of WorkedIN returned to India to take care of the family business. What seemed like a homecoming quickly revealed a harsh reality.
Managing day-to-day operations became difficult—not because of lack of demand or ambition, but because of one critical issue: labor. Finding reliable workers was a constant struggle. Expansion plans stalled. There was no trusted, structured way to hire blue-collar workers—unlike white-collar hiring, which had multiple platforms and systems.
The founder spoke to hundreds of small and medium scale business owners. Their stories were strikingly similar. Many were struggling to survive due to labor shortages. Some had already shut down. Others were on the verge of closing.
At the same time, conversations with workers told another side of the story. Many were sitting idle in villages, waiting for work through word of mouth—dependent on friends, relatives, or middlemen. Months of uncertainty, unstable income, and growing frustration had become their reality.
This disconnect—businesses desperate for labor and workers desperate for jobs—revealed a massive, broken system. WorkedIN was created to fix this gap.
